Streptocarpus thompsonii

Nice, upright-growing gesneriad for bonsai subject.  Thick, upright, stems with small, roundish, leaves.  With some pruning, makes a nice little "tree".  Lots and lots of tiny, light lavender-blue blooms.

Quite odd in a good way

It makes me think of a caudex plant. The stem is thick and succulent. The leaves and wee bell flowers are sweetly tiny. I only wish that the blooms stayed on mine longer.

Unusual!

This is a very unusual little plant with reddish stems and tiny leaves & flowers. One of must-have collections, I would say. Actually, I ordered one and received it damaged. First time ever. I was a little bit disappointed because they always ship perfectly. I emailed them and got an immediate reply. They apologized and offered me a replacement. And they did send me a replacement plant in perfect shape. Sometimes I get damaged plants from other internet vendors too (I guess 6-7 vendors). But there were only 2 vendors who took immediate actions and offered me a replacement. And Violet Barn was one of them. I'm just a small buyer, nothing like a big company, but they were very nice and classy. That to me shows care for their customers and confidence in plants they grow. And that's why I keep ordering from Violet Barn, even if I get damaged plant.
